They say Rome wasn't built in a day and I can tell you our new store wasn't either. It cost much more and took a lot longer that I expected, but... It was totally worth it! First, I told you about the team. Then, I told you about the guitars. In this third and final installment on why Replay Music Exchange will be Florida's best guitar shop, I will tell you more about our brand new store.
Located in the heart of South Tampa, our newly built-out, 6,000 square foot store will be a destination and gathering place for musicians. We will feature an incredible selection of new, pre-owned, and vintage guitars, basses, amps, and related music gear.
When you approach the store, the first thing you will probably notice is the large store-front windows. The elevated platform near the windows will serve double-duty: Normally, this area will serve as a display area facing outside and will be setup with eye-catching music gear for passers-by. But, on special occasions, we will pull the curtain across to block off the windows and set this area up as a stage facing into the store where we can host live performances, gear demonstrations, clinics, and student recitals.
Once inside, you will be greeted at the cash-wrap area in the center and flanked on both sides by over 110 linear feet of electric guitar & bass walls! Each 55'+ side will have slat wall from the floor to 12' high, which allows us to hang guitars 3-high, one atop another. We estimate we can hang over 300 instruments on these two walls alone! There will be hanging space on on both sides of the stage and along the back wall, which has a full-length mirror, so you can make sure your new axe doesn't clash with your snake-skin boots. The two main walls will have glass display counters running their lengths where we will tuck away high-end and vintage pieces that require special care when handling. There will two moveable amp displays with smaller combo amps ready to rock. Pedals and other small accessories will be kept in the glass display cases all around the cash register area and there will be several free-standing displays with commonly needed accessories such as straps, cables, etc. Near the back of the main retail space, there will be a comfortable lounge area with TV for you to relax, play, and interact with fellow musicians.
If you'd really like to plug in make some noise, step into our sound-insulated amp demo room and crank it up! This room features three stair-step levels of amps across three walls. All will be plugged in and ready to play. Go ahead and fire up that 100 watt head for an extended demo --I hope you won't be offended if we step outside!
Through the glass doors across the hall, you will find our beautiful, climate-controlled acoustic room. Wrapped in stunning reclaimed-wood paneling, this relaxing room features subdued lighting on four walls of acoustic instruments.
Venture a little further into the store and you will find our pro-audio room. This sound-insulated room features everything a guitarist might need for recording and live-sound. We will have three Macs setup with all the latest software and we'll be happy to demonstrate the best ways to record your next masterpiece. Along the back wall, we'll have several small PA systems that would be suitable for a rehearsal space or small gig. This would also be a great place to demo an acoustic / electric guitar to see how it will sound direct to the PA. And, of course, we'll have all the necessary accessories such as microphones, cables, and digital interfaces.
Back across the hall, we have our repair shop, where our expert Luthier, Brad, can handle everything from minor adjustments and setups, to major repairs and everything in between. We will have an oscilloscope and can perform amp bias adjustments when replacing your amp tubes, as well.
Further down the hall is the lesson suite area. We have four spacious, sound-insulated lesson rooms, with glass doors so parents can peek in on the students. Each room will be equipped with a Mac recording station so that students can record & share their lessons. The suite will also have lounge with comfortable seating, TV, free wi-fi, and refreshment station.
It's been a long road, but construction on the new store is nearly finished and we are super-excited for you to see it! We will be moving in on June 22 and plan to have a soft-opening sometime in July with a big, Grand Opening Celebration to follow in August. If you haven't done so already, please join our e-mail list and follow us on social media for updates on our opening schedule. We look forward to welcoming you into the new store very soon!
