Jackson began back in the late 1970s, when heavy music experienced a flamboyant and virtuosic resurgence in popularity and a small Southern California guitar repair shop became the epicenter of a new level of shred-approved excellence. Ever since then, Jackson guitars have been universally lauded as the metal guitars; the shred machines—highly original high-performance instruments of distinctive style and formidable substance.

Jackson Guitars was born thanks to the hard work of Grover Jackson and a fledgling guitar god in the making, Randy Rhoads. After making guitars under the Charvel name in the '70s and '80s, Grover Jackson was contacted by Randy to build him a distinctive guitar, and  the pair quickly designed the "Concorde"- a streamlined, offset V-shaped white guitar with neck-through-body construction. This iconic custom guitar was unique enough that Grover decided to put his own name on it instead of the Charvel name, and Jackson Guitars was born.

Tragically, Rhoads was killed in a March 1982 plane crash while on tour. Demand was high for a Rhoads model guitar. With support from Rhoads' mother, Delores, production began in 1983 of the Jackson Randy Rhoads™ guitar, which became one of the more enduring and popular Jackson models.

In fall 2002, Fender Musical Instrument Corporation bought Jackson/Charvel and moved operations to Fender's Corona, Calif., facility, putting the full force of the company's design, manufacturing, marketing and sales support behind the Jackson line. In addition to historic models such as the Rhoads, Soloist, Dinky, Kelly and King V, Jackson has since introduced the Warrior™, the MG and JS series guitars, and distinctive signature models with artists like David Ellefson, Marty Friedman, and Chris Broderick.

JS Series

JS Series guitars take an epic leap forward, making it easier than ever to get classic Jackson tone, looks and playability without breaking the bank. Upgraded and classic Jackson features such as striking aesthetics, custom-voiced high output ceramic-magnet pickups, graphite-reinforced maple necks, bound fingerboards and headstocks deliver more for less, perfect for beginner guitarists or those on a tight budget.

X Series

Think classic Jackson designs, outstanding tone, ultra-fast playability and highly affordable value for 21st-century guitarists. Built with the very latest in Jackson expertise and innovation, X Series models feature hot humbucking pickups that deliver well-balanced tone with tight bass, glassy mids and crunchy highs. More than the sum of their parts, these mid-range level guitars are steeped with an “X” factor that makes them perfect modern shred machines for a whole new generation of no-holds barred guitarists.
