Gibson Firebird Platypus Electric Guitar, Ebony

Gibson Firebird Platypus, Ebony
In early 1965, the original Firebird design transitioned through several different iterations — eventually coming to the unique non-reverse headstock shape, which was flat like the bill of a platypus and featured six-in-line tuners rather than the banjo-style tuners on previous Firebird models. The Gibson Firebird Platypus pays tribute to that rare transitional model, showing off a mahogany solidbody with a set neck and the appearance of a traditional neck-through Reverse Firebird body.
The mahogany neck has a fast-playing SlimTaper profile and a rosewood fingerboard with acrylic trapezoid inlays that sports the Platypus-style headstock, which holds a Graph Tech nut and Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners. The other end is held up by a Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge with an aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece for outstanding sustain. The historically-accurate Firebird mini humbucker pickups have Alnico 5 magnets, delivering tones with nearly bell-like chime when played clean and great rock and blues sounds that easily cut through the mix when pushed. Paying tribute to the rare transitional models from the mid-sixties, the Firebird Platypus has all of the action and attitude you desire — available now at Replay Guitar Exchange!
