Gibson P-90 Soapbar Pickup, Cream Cover
Gibson P-90 Soapbar, Cream Cover
First introduced in the early 1950s, Gibson's legendary P-90 single-coil pickup produced a raw powerful tone that helped define the blues and rock 'n' roll in their formative years. Today, the Gibson P-90 Soapbar Pickup has a traditional combination of high output and brilliant tone that's still considered a favorite among many top musicians. This single-coil pickup has Alnico 5 magnets, 2-conductor wiring, 8K average DC resistance and a wax potted construction.
Known by such familiar nicknames as the Soapbar and the Dogear (both of which describe the two main styles of pickup covers used with P-90 pickups), the P-90 still cuts through any type of music, all while displaying amazing tonal sensitivity for everything from blues and rock to mellow jazz riffs. It's perfect as a vintage replacement and features vintage, braided two-conductor wiring. It's also fully wax potted to eliminate any change of unwanted microphone feedback.
